MeoWizard

MeoWizard was created as a fun personal project following the popularity of the Bomberman games among my friend group. Since this is a reskin of Bomberman, the core gameplay is already decided. I tried my hardest to faithfully recreate the original game feel and mechanics of the original Bomberman game with Super Bomberman 3 as the main reference. MeoWizard also marks my first project with local multiplayer. I was in charge of game designing, scripting and everything in Unity, while my friends Tuyen and Tuan Anh provided art assets for the game.

MeoWizard has only 1 level, which is also the basic level of every Bomberman game. MeoWizard also only has 2 items, Bomb and Fire, which makes the gameplay closer to the original Bomberman games rather than the Super Bomberman games which has a lot more items.

MeoWizard has a new second-chance mechanic that was not in the original Bomberman games. After getting hit by the fire the first time, the player enters a burning state. While in the burning state, players have 10 seconds to continue playing before being burned out. In order to give the burning player a small chance at a come back, the bombs of the burning players will be stronger and able to defeat other players in one shot without setting them on fire.

MeoWizard can be played with up to 2-4 players using keyboard and 2 controllers (2 players on the same keyboard). A major caveat of the multiplayer system is that player numbers are tied to their controls (player 1 and 2 are always keyboard even if there is a controller plugged-in).
